Monster High Dolls Review

The Monster High Dolls is a great set for your young ones to collect and play with. These are horror themed fashion dolls created by Mattel. Popular characters are offsprings of Dracula, the monster of Frankenstein, the Mummy, Zombies and Medusa among others.
Their sizes vary according to preadolescent and adult sizes. The female dolls are usually 9 inches in height while the males stand at 11 inches. They have a disproportionately big head that is unique for each doll character. They also have doe eyes and cute button noses. Their skin tones range from blue to green to pink and a kaleidoscope of different colors. The female dolls have hair made of saran or else kanekalon fibers while the male’s hair is a molded plastic. The bodies of the dolls have removable and movable arms and hands.
Each doll has a personalized Halloween fashion style complete with monster attributes like fangs, blood, stitches, fins, wolf ears among others. There are seven main characters. There is preppy Frankie Stein who is 15 days old with heterochromia. There is Draculaura, a 1,599 year old vegan who loves Victorian and kawaii Lolita styles in pink and black. Another character is Clawdeen Wolf the werewolf and Cleo de Nile, a 5,842 years old mummy who loves to wear wraps. There are also streaks of gold on her hair. Lagoona Blue is a tomboy from Australia. She loves wearing tank tops and shorts. Other characters are Deuce Gorgon and Ghoulia Yelps. Deuce is a 16 year old casketball player who has snakes for his hair. Ghoulia, on the other hand, is the shortest character because she does not stand straight.
The great thing about the Monster High Dolls is that even if it is made by Mattel, it does not look remotely like Barbie. All the features are fresh and unique. The anatomy is also quite good, and it even seems realistic. They are ball jointed, and the arms and knees can be retro flexed. The finish is also nice without being overly shiny. You can notice how very detailed the designs of some characters are. They can also stand with assistance. The box is also detailed and full of information about the doll. Too bad about its quality though. We will talk about this later.
On the negative side this doll comes with really small pieces that can be a choking hazard for young children under three years old. You can’t also find a whole set of all the different doll characters, so you have to buy each of it separately. Another downside is that Mattel released most of the dolls in the collection in different locations in just one big sweep. So, if you are a collector you really have to spend one time, big time. You also need to scout high and low to complete the entire catalogue. As mentioned, the box is also flimsy, so it is not ideal for collectors. Mattel is known to have issues with how they create eyes. This one is not an exemption. There are flaws, but you only get to notice it if you are looking for it. The arms can easily be detached because its pegs are really smooth with hardly any groove. Maybe this was designed to make dressing up easier. But for a small child, this can be exasperating and frustrating. It would be nice also if the company would start producing other accessories like clothes, bags and shoes for the different characters.
In conclusion, the Monster High Dolls are a unique concept that both boys and girls can enjoy play act with. Other than the main characters, there are also the students and teachers of Monster High School. This is a nice set to start your collection because each character has a story. You can read more about them in their diary. There are lots of interactive websites dedicated to these dolls, so your imagination is always working.
